My Story

Growing up, the easiest way to describe my relationship with food would be: messy. I was an emotional eater, turning to food (chocolate in particular) for comfort whenever I was feeling sad, happy, anxious, angry, or even bored. This, coupled with imbalanced hormones and blood sugar irregularities, meant most of my child and adult life was been spent unhappily overweight, desperately restarting a new diet every Monday and never seeing any results. Feeling disappointed in myself for 'failing' would lead to overindulging, and the nasty cycle would continue.

Eventually, I began to notice the toll this way of eating was taking on my body. I could feel my blood sugar spiralling out of control, my periods would leave me bedridden in pain, and I felt so self-conscious about how I looked that I stopped socialising. I knew something had to change. I researched everything I could about nutrition, and how to use food as medicine, and started to fuel my body with nutrient-dense foods that were rich in fibre, proteins, and healthy fats. The switch took some time, but I began to not only lose weight, but feel better too. My fuzzy head was gone, I noticed less blood sugar spikes, and my period pain became more manageable. My health journey is still ongoing. I've lost 25 kilograms so far, and still have plenty to go, but I'm feeling healthier, and more energetic because of it (I've even started running, something I never thought I would - or could! - do), and I know I'm setting myself up for a better future.

My own health journey, coupled with a decade spent as a lifestyle journalist writing about health, led me back to university where I gained a PgDip in Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine. I am currently completing a MSc, with my dissertation specialising in emotional eating and delayed gratification.

Whether you're interested in weight loss, hormone balance, emotional eating, health ageing, blood sugar regulation, or you simply want to feel better, I'd love to work with you on your own health journey.
